S&T target industries
Telecommunications
S&T has many clients involved in telecommunications and can demonstrate sound experience in many projects in this area. In 2006, 21% of S&T's total sales came from projects in the telecommunications industry. Telecommunications companies in the IT area are changing their focus radically. Although cost reduction has taken priority for quite some time, the focus now is on supporting growth, using IT to implement a focus on customers, increasing productivity and efficiency, and guaranteeing flexibility and speed by introducing innovations.
Financial service providers
Demand for IT services for banks and insurance companies continues unabated. IT solutions and systems must comply with legislation and especially with requirements for security and flexibility. Contracts from this segment of the economy comprised 19% of S&T's sales in 2006. With the takeover of IMG The Information Management Group, S&T significantly increased its capacity and expertise in this sector. In addition to services offered by S&T, it can now also offer solutions for Customer Management, Process & IT Management, Business Networking & Sourcing, Community Management and Operation Services.
Manufacturing industry
Thoroughly familiar with this sector, S&T offers tailor-made solutions for the manufacturing industry, which is experiencing extreme pressure from competition and costs. 37% of S&T's sales are generated by projects for manufacturing companies. With its combination of IT technology expertise and knowledge of the sector, S&T can guarantee companies in the manufacturing industry not only efficient operation of infrastructure, but also optimisation of their infrastructure and application resources. To complement this, IMG The Information Management Group delivers IT based business solutions that solve business challenges and maximise market opportunities.
Energy suppliers
The energy sector is undergoing radical change. Liberalisation, bringing with it international competitive pressures, sees companies looking for new, efficient, future-oriented IT solutions. In future they will need to operate more effectively at a lower cost, but still meet statutory framework conditions and their clients' expectations in terms of price and quality. In this scenario, IT becomes a strategic success factor because the only way to withstand the challenges of competition is to automate operations. S&T has many years of experience in the energy industry and well-known clients in different countries. In 2006, 9% of its sales came from the energy supply sector alone.
Retail
ERP and merchandise management systems, along with business intelligence plans that make prices and ranges more efficient, play an important role in the retail trade, as do the introduction of modern cash register systems and customer relationship programmes. Investment in IT is targeted at generating competitive advantages and improving cooperation with suppliers and partners so as to create advantages in productivity. S&T manages a very wide range of projects in the retail sector. As well, IMG The Information Management Group contributes its extensive experience in management, planning and implementation for companies in the consumer goods and retail sectors.
Automotive
The specific requirements of the automotive and vehicle retail industries require individualised IT solutions. Competition is tough for manufacturers, suppliers and retailers, so there is constant automation and ongoing efforts to optimise processes, which must then be implemented by IT. In IMG The Information Management Group, which it acquired in 2007, S&T has a team of experts that has carried out many projects implementing solutions for car trade, sales, import and ordering processes, warranty and spare parts business, the integration of leasing and fleet business, and dealer networks.
Aerospace and defence
Airlines have faced some tough challenges in the last few years: Losses in the wake of 11 September 2001, terrorist attacks and various epidemics (e.g. SARS), complex security measures making business increasingly more difficult, the rise of ultra-competitive operators offering cheap flights, high fuel prices and progressive consolidation of the aviation market lead to IT projects whose primary goal is to reduce costs and optimise processes and operations. S&T has numbered leading airlines among its clients for many years. IMG The Information Management Group has also been successful in this sector.
IMG The Information Management Group also has a great deal of experience in defence, and currently advises armies and suppliers using its well-founded knowledge of processes in the aerospace and defence industries. IMG develops flexible organisational and systems structures that can be adapted to continually changing organisational structures.
Public administration
Public administration in the countries where S&T works is facing enormous challenges. Optimising business processes is the key to developing administration and forms the basis for all e-government activities. The goal is to increase efficiency and improve the quality of service offered to citizens. EU directives, political and statutory framework conditions and budget restrictions all place great pressure on public authorities. S&T works with a wide range of public administration clients, from government ministries to universities and state-owned lottery operators, offering them its full portfolio of services.
Key business areas
S&T supports its clients as they face IT challenges right along the IT value-creation chain.
