The Challenge

Pliva has a central office in Zagreb and more than 20 branch offices in Europe, Asia and United States which need to communicate safely over the Internet. The redundancy of information is a must on most locations because there must not be any lack of IT service in pharmacy business. A central management system for all network security devices is to be installed in Zagreb to make management easier and to reduce maintenance cost in branch locations. For the implementation of the new system Pliva chose S&T Hrvatska as their reliable partner.

The Project

The idea is to provide encrypted communications via international VPN connections and also safe access to Internet in all locations. The chosen solution of S&T is Check Point VPN-1/FW-1 architecture which provides an easy-to-manage high efficient Firewall and powerful VPN solution. The platform for the firewall system is Nokia IP series which provides high availability based on IPSO Clustering technology. This ensures both performance and redundancy at the same time.

The implementation of the project has included Central Management which is also built as a 2-member cluster and provides easy-to-manage interface for the management of all implemented network security systems and also provides excellent event logging capabilities. The second, but more important aspect of the project is quick response support in case of any problems on the system and every day support to Pliva stuff which includes our expertise in design, upgrading, migration, maintenance and other topics.
