S&T extends Application Management Services Team in China

Great demand for AMS in China from European and Asian customers

Current projects for companies in Switzerland, Germany and Japan 2 October 2007. The S&T, leading provider of IT consulting, IT solutions, and IT services in the Germany-Austria-Switzerland region, Eastern Europe and Asia, continues to expand its Asian business successfully. By offering Application Management Services (AMS) in China, the company supports international clients with the supervision of their users and SAP-applications in China as well as other Asian countries. In May this year the first employees of the S&T-owned IMG, which has been operating subsidiaries in Shanghai und Guangzhou for over two years, took up their work in Shanghai in a recently established Chinese AMS unit. The companies from Switzerland, Germany and Japan were among the first customers. The AMS team is combining operator services for applications with the supervision of application systems within the SAP environment.

Generally speaking, companies in Europe are only seriously concerned with additional externally bought Application Management Services, if the capacity of the proprietary SAP team is no longer sufficient to manage additional projects in addition to the daily business, the user supervision. With its Application Management Services the IMG as a company of S&T takes on routine tasks for the respective customers and guarantees them a certain level of quality.

„In Asia and particularly in China we were able to convince numerous customers that we are able to supervise their users and SAP applications better than they themselves are able to. Control from the European headquarters always proves to be difficult. We act on site as an extended arm of the company-inherent SAP Competence Center and take on these tasks in close cooperation with the head office“, explains Christian Rosner, CEO of S&T.

With all customers, the focus is on out-tasking of the conventional SAP R/3-core modules FI/CO/MM/SD/PP and proprietary developments. This need is satisfied by the S&T Group-owned IMG in China by a dedicated AMS team, as was previously the case in the German-speaking region and in Poland. The team is under the management of Manfred Meier, the global division manager for Application Management Services at IMG.

Among the customers of the AMS unit of the S&T Group in China is a Swiss leader in the technology for the development and manufacture of hearing aids, whose subsidiaries in China, Vietnam and Japan are supervised by the IMG in Shanghai. The IMG also manages applications for the Chinese branches of a leading Japanese provider of high quality measurement and analysis engineering. The IMG is already active at the German location of the company. The IMG was also able to convince the users in China from an internationally positioned German company in product engineering, of its Application Management Services.

With its Chinese AMS team, S&T is not only successfully expanding its global Application Management Services but also reinforcing its footprint in Asia.
