S&T Helps Polish Police Prepare for Schengen

S&T wins another big EU-funded order in Poland

S&T System Integration & Technology Distribution AG has won another big EU-funded order in Poland. An S&T-led consortium will expand the national information system of the Polish police in preparation for the implementation of the Schengen Accord.
One of the main functions of the national information system in Poland is to provide the police with access to all information that is relevant to their work irrespective of their location. The system is especially important for fighting crime and anti-terrorism activities.

The purpose of the project is to adapt the national information system to the requirements of the Schengen Accord and integrate it into the Schengen Information System. This should simplify a close co-operation with EU bodies. S&T will therefore expand both the capacity and the functionality of the information system. The system will be enlarged to include new components while the existing computing capacity will also be significantly increased.

The order, which will be fully financed by European Union Schengen funds, includes the delivery and installation of hardware and licenses, the extension of application software as well as the expansion of the existing back-up solution. The value of the order runs to approximately EUR 2 million.

S&T has been operating in Poland since 2000 and employs some 160 people there. With this order, the biggest public sector order to be awarded in Poland in 2005, S&T can position itself as one of the country’s leading providers of IT services to the public sector.
