S&T Opens Five Competence Centres

Further industry competence centres are planned

In the next few months S&T will open five competence centres focusing on strategic themes. The centres will provide highly-specific expertise in all S&T countries and also actively develop business and markets. Other industry competence centres are already being planned. This will enable S&T to respond to the increasingly high degree of specialisation on the IT market and offer its customers top quality service.
The main tasks of the S&T Competence Centres are to provide optimal consulting and other services for customers, intensive business development, support for sales teams in the pre-sales and implementation phases of projects and a structured transfer of know-how.

  • SAP Outsourcing Centre in Zilina, Slovakia
  • Competence Centre HP Open View in Bucharest, Romania
  • Customer Concept Centre in Bucharest, Romania

Each Competence Centre comprises local and international employees who work together with cross-border teams on customer projects. "The degree of specialisation on the IT market is increasing continuously. The Competence Centres enable us to deliver services of the highest quality to our customers in all countries. The staff at the Competence Centres not only support the local teams, they also train them," explained Christian Rosner, CEO of S&T AG.

Evaluation of new Technologies

However, the Competence Centres are also responsible for evaluating new technologies. Given the rapid development of new products, many companies find they lack the time and personnel capacity to study them in detail. S&T tests products to see how they meet specific customer requirements and provides personalised consulting to clients as they select technology. Moreover, the Competence Centres also serve as test platforms for complex projects such as server virtualisations or Information Lifecycle Management. According to Rosner, "ability to use a test system away from ones own operational systems represents a high added value for the customers."

Industry Competence Centres Planned

Once these five Competence Centres are up and running, S&T plans to open more. These will focus on specialised themes in the S&T focus industries, telecommunications, production/manufacturing and financial services. The S&T Group already possesses the necessary specific expertise in industry processes, and the planned competence centres will structure it more effectively and make it available to all customers in all countries.
