S&T helps fight crime

S&T wins tender from Polish police

The SIRENE Office (Supplementary Information Request at the National Entry) will in future enable the Polish police to improve cross-border co-operation with other forces, thus increasing public security. This will be made possible by a new IT solution from S&T.
Within the scope of the project, S&T will be responsible for carrying out the preparatory work needed to ensure the reliable functioning of the SIRENE Office, in conformity with the Schengen Agreement. Furthermore, S&T will guarantee communication with the relevant national and international service providers and provide the professional support needed to ensure the high availability of the system. S&T will also carry out training programmes.

Access to the Schengen information system will enable the Polish police to track down wanted persons, criminals and stolen property in and from other countries even faster, increasing opportunities to fight cross-border crime and extending the reach of law enforcement across Europe.

The SIRENE Office will be responsible for exchanging information with the other SIRENE Offices in the Schengen states. For Poland, it is one of the key criteria for Polish accession to the Schengen Agreement. The system will be implemented by Polish and international specialists and is scheduled for completion by mid November 2006.

“S&T is proud to help the Polish police by providing an IT solution which will enhance their capabilities to combat crime" said Christian Rosner, CEO of S&T AG.
