BTC currently has about 2.9 million customers and in view of a potential market of some 8 million customers is expected to post continued strong growth. S&T, a long time supplier of enhanced functionality IT solutions to BTC (Bulgarian Telecom), has successfully designed and installed a new solution as a part of a sophisticated billing and customer relationship management system at BTC.

The challenge of this project was to extend the functionality of BTC's primary multimillion Euro data centre, while keeping the current information system fully operational for day-to-day business. The solution integrates state of the art security and consolidation elements to guarantee the availability of the required information at any point in time and to assure a consistent productivity of the system. The system is based on an architecture which is
extendable on demand. Thus BTC is well prepared for the rapid increase in the number of customers.

The contract includes delivery and implementation of software and hardware, the integration into the existing IT infrastructure as well as ongoing support. The first stage of the project was completed in May 2005. The second phase which includes the installation of a secondary data centre and a disaster recovery solution will be finalized by the end of 2005. The two
companies have agreed to maintain silence about the order value of the project. S&T has been active in Bulgaria since 1993 and employs more than 40 people in Sofia.
